Cement Workshop in NewburghSculpture: Direct Modeling with Cement

2 – Day Workshop At The Warehouse Loft with Judy Sigunick
Cement is a durable, flexible and versatile material which can be mixed to resemble the texture and modeling qualities of wet clay. It can be formulated to mimic other materials, with many sculptural possibilities. Topics include materials handling, as well as architectural applications towards developing your ideas and guiding fabrication strategies. Beginner to advanced welcome.
You will learn how to formulate concrete mixtures for specific needs and effects. During the first day we will work with wire, wire mesh and steel rod to design and form an armature, using the remainder of the workshop for applying concrete. Attention will be given to structural reinforcement as well as safe handling of the materials. Bring your drawings and ideas.
$225 (includes cement and wire) $50 non-refundable deposit due by September 3rd.
